Whether you are already writing articles for SEO purposes, or want to start promoting your website through this popular SEO practice, be sure to consider methods that will take your web site to the next level. SEO article writing is critically important to a solid SEO strategy. Here are some key pointers to remember when doing SEO article writing and what you should avoid doing:
Don’t:
Repeat yourself for the sake of using keywords (otherwise known as keyword stuffing). You want to be sure to include your targeted keywords, but do it in a natural flow. Continually repeating your message throughout your article will just make users aware that you are writing it for SEO purposes and they won’t want to read it.
Sacrifice quality for content. This is sort of a repeat of the last don’t (going against my own suggestion, huh?), but bear with me. Not only should you not keyword stuff and repeat content in your article, but be sure that what you are writing is actually useful. Also, don’t post an article on a website if it has nothing to do with what that website is about (example: an article about SEO Content Writing on a cooking website).
Ramble or be unclear. You want concise messaging that gets your point across. However, that doesn’t mean you can’t be personable…use your voice.
Forget who you are writing to/for. Well yes, you are writing to boost some traffic to your site and hopefully improve your websites search rankings. But remember, actual users will be reading this not just Google bots.
Forget that there are professionals who can help you. Don’t feel comfortable writing your own SEO content and articles? Well, luckily there are experts out there that can help you.
Forget to promote it. You have spent some time creating and posting your quality article on your site, but it just sits there collecting dust. Make sure you are promoting your articles on top quality content and social sites like Scribd, Digg, LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter Hubpages, etc. Some require 100% unique content, so you may have to rewrite your article a bit, but these site are great ways to spread the word about your content and drive natural links back to your articles.
So there you go, keep these
don’ts in mind next time you go to write your own article and you should see the traffic you were hoping for in no time.

Frequently adding to the content on your website will aid in your
search engine optimization efforts. A website that is updated with new content on a regular basis will preform well with search engines.
There was a time when simply repeating a keyword or key phrase was enough to get you a high ranking with Google and other search engine sites. Today there is a lot more competition for those top spots and there are more restrictions.
One big mistake that is made with content is publishing your article in multiple locations. It is a common misconception that the more places you publish your content the better the results will be. For example, if you put an article in the news section of your website, on your website blog and on a additional blog that you have outside your site it will have a negative impact on your SEO. The problem with this is that when Google sees duplicate content on a site they automatically put that website below the top 100 search results. They do this because they feel that if that exact information is available somewhere else they don't want to waste the time of the person searching for information by putting it in the top search results twice or more. This makes your content virtually invisible.
To avoid this publish your content in it's best form in a prominent location on your website. If you want to write a corresponding blog post on the same topic go for it but don't simply cut and paste the article you already posted. Change it up and you'll get twice the success from your
content writing.

Content marketing continues to be a great way to improve search engine visibility in 2010, and improve the "stickiness" of your site. Content marketing is when you publish, promote, and syndicate content this is valuable, interesting, and relevant to your brand and overall marketing strategies.
Focus on creating "keyword" rich content that aligns well with the keywords you are targeting for your site and be sure to provide content that reads well and is written for the user, not for the search engines. Many clients tend to get one or the other of these key points, but often fail to utilize both strategies (keyword rich content & written for the user). A recent client of ours provided a well written article, but failed to use any of the keywords that we were trying to target for the search engine optimization campaign. I suppose you can't always use your keywords for every article, but it certainly makes sense to try.
Create optimized content that is specific to what your target audience is searching for:
• Identify the information needs of your target audience
• Analyze your ideal persona's needs
• Include a clear "call to action" in each article and content piece. Your readers will often do what you tell them to do. Call Now! Get More Information. Download Our Free Whitepaper. Buy Now.
• Provide information that fulfills the need of each of your personas - Can't always be done with 1 content article, provide multiple articles over time that speaks to all of your target audience.
Once your content is written, you need to distribute it. First, make sure your content article is on your website as a web page. You can offer a PDF version, but an actual page will allow you to setup internal links to other pages (improves SEO and usability) and add analytics to track the popularity and success of your articles. Use an initial push strategy to begin marketing your content (social media, article marketing sites, blogs, and market it on your own site). This will help get people interested in your content and hopefully they will begin to share it with others. Wherever possible, always include a link back to your article on your site or a targeted page on your site.
